- "On one hand, we know that everything happens for a reason, and there are no mistakes or coincidences, On the other hand, we learn that we can never give up, knowing that with the right tools and energy, we can reverse any decree or karma. So, which is it? Let the Light decide, or never give up? The answer is: both."
(this coming from the guy she married, Dakota Meyer)

- Dakota is also the father of 5 month old Sailor Grace Palin

- They confirmed their marriage to ET yesterday because there is no low ET won't go to, I guess

Mali Music Uses Mass Murder to Push His Religious Agenda

His defenders, like the one who posted the video, are saying he did not explicitly say the Orlando victims are going to hell. Which is true. But I think it's implied. Too many pastors preach that the LGBTQ community are hell bound sinners for me to believe that wasn't what he meant. On top of that, his tone was extremely callous.

If you're wondering who he is, Mali Music is a gospel-to-R&B singer who collaborated once with noted whisper vocalist Jhené Aiko and performed on the American Idol stage at Jennifer Lopez's request. Here's hoping this ends his career.

Posting b/c I've gone from sad to mad, and it's important to call out homophobia when you see it.

Youtuber Sorsha reveals what's inside Jeffree Star's favorite beauty products, shades him

Trigger warning: This video contains educational clips meant to show what non-vegan, non-cruelty free products are inside these beauty products. They are extremely graphic in nature and depict animal abuse. It is advised to avoid this video if you are sensitive to such material.

Youtuber and "professional makeup artist"Jeffree Star has stated in the past that all of his products are vegan and cruelty and even brings up this selling point about other brands he enjoys in some of his youtube videos. But a relatively small youtuber, Sorsha, uploaded a video yesterday which reveals many of his other favorite products aren't cruelty free and vegan. Look below for the run down below.

1. NARS "Copacabana” Illuminator - Contains carmine, which is crushed up cochineal insects.
2. MAC “Gold Deposit” mineralized Skinfinish - Contains carmine, MAC also tests products on animals.
3. Tatcha - Luminous Dewy Skin Mist - Contains royal jelly, which is secreted from the glands of worker bees.
4. Flutter Lashes “Natasha” mink - Made from the fur of minks.
5. Jaclyn Hill X Becca “Champagne Pop” &“Pearl” - Contains carmine, which is crushed up cochineal insects.

Sorsha also points out Jeffree's hypocrisy where on his cosmetic line's website he states that all of his products are vegan and cruelty free and that "Makeup is for humans, not animals" but then how he will purchase these products which are not cruelty free and vegan and even purchase from MAC, which tests their products on animals.

Tomi Lahren, host of irrelevant show TheBlaze, goes off racist deep end responding to Jesse Williams

Jesse Williams was honored with BET's humanitarian of the year award on Sunday, and he delivered a passionate speech touching on racism in America.

"This is for the real organizers all over the country. The activists, the civil rights attorneys, the struggling parents, the families, the teachers, the students, that are realizing that a system built to divide and impoverish and destroy us cannot stand if we do. There has been no war that we have not fought and died on the front lines of. There has been no job we haven’t done, there’s been no tax they haven’t levied against us, and we’ve paid all of them. But freedom is somehow always conditional here. We’ve been floating this country on credit for centuries, yo, and we’re done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us, burying black people out of sight and out of mind, while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil, black gold. Ghettoizing and demeaning our creations then stealing them, gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit. The thing is, though, the thing is that just because we’re magic, doesn’t mean we’re not real."

Tomi Lahren responded to Williams' speech on a segment of TheBlaze, coming dangerously close to exploding from white rage.

FULL RANT:

Well the BET Awards were last night. Notably, they were very black. Oh, but can I say that? What with my whiteness and all? Well, too damn bad. Question: was this a celebration of black entertainment or an opportunity to complain about the plight of wealthy black actors and musicians? Curious, because I saw a lot of talent on that stage, but at the same time, a whole lot of victimhood. Oh and police-bashing, that too.

Meet Grey's Anatomy actor Jesse Williams. He won the humanitarian award last night, which means the BET definition of humanitarian is someone who perpetuates a war on cops.

(Plays clip of Jesse talking about police brutality in his speech.)

"Killing someone in broad daylight and then going home to make a sandwich"? Are you kidding me, Jesse? Know what else is interesting, bud? Though the term "unarmed black man" may be literally accurate, it doesn't tell the whole story in most cases. In a number of cases if the victim ended up being unarmed, it was certainly not for lack of trying. Grabbing an officer's gun or using other equipment to beat the police doesn't give you a free pass. Oh, but heaven forbid someone be critical of this movement!

(Plays clip of Jesse telling people to sit down and shut up with their suggestions and criticism of movement for racial rights if they don't also have a record of speaking out against racial oppression.)

Equal rights. Please tell me Mr. Williams what rights black people don't have. Also, white people? Yeah, we do have a record of critique of your oppression. In fact do you know how many of our ancestors fought in the Civil War to free your ancestors? Bloodiest war in the United States history was over what was right, and it was largely white people fighting it. In fact it was white southern DEMOCRATS who fought for, not against, slavery. Oh but speaking of privilege, let's listen to this high-paid television actor tell us just how bad he has it.

(Plays clip of Jesse talking about whiteness and appropriation of black culture.)

I'm sorry Jesse, but I won't be apologizing for my whiteness, just as you don't need to apologize for your blackness. It's not white people working to divide America, it's YOU! YOU and Beyonce and Jada Pinkett Smith and Al Sharpton. Do you see yourself as a victim? If so, I feel sorry for YOU. For someone who wants equal rights it sure sounds like you prefer special treatment. It sure sounds like you'd like a gold star at the end of the day just for being born. Get over yourself! You're not a humanitarian, you're not a unifier. You're not teaching black children to go forth and conquer, you're teaching them to feel sorry for themselves. Nice work, and how about YOU sit down?

Those are my final thoughts, God bless and take care.

ONTD Original: 10 Canadian Classics to (not) Watch This Canada Day

$
0
0

If a Canadian film opens in Canada and no one sees it is it still canadian? Very much so! Here are 10 Canadian classics you probably haven't seen because no one cares about our film industry!

Goin' Down the Road directed by Donald Shebib (1970)
While the Quebec film industry was always pretty good, Goin' Down the Road is really what launched English language films as being watchable (not that Canadians actually watched it, but y'know). The film is about two guys from Nova Scotia who want to see what's going on in Toronto. After one long road trip they quickly settle in but life in the big city is hard and depressing. It's actually very good and has some of the hallmarks of Canadian cinema like low/no budget, scenes of the cruelty of Canadian winter and a hatred for the harash city life of Toronto. There was a sequel made in 2011 but it looks terrible so I haven't seen it.

Mon Oncle Antoine directed by Claude Jutra (1971)
Jutra is so revered in Canada that the Quebec Oscars, the Jutras were named after him (more on that later). Mon Oncle Antoine is his most famous movie and it's easy to see why. Taking place over the Christmas season in a small mining town where everyone is poor and bitter it follows the teenage protagonists as he is introduced to both a sexual awakening AND death over the same weekend. What fun!
The movie has been tainted by the 2016 accusations that Jutra was a pedophile, but the Quebec film industry did the right thing and decided to rename the Jutra awards (new name still pending) as well as stripping Jutra's name off of several streets and parks that had previously honoured him. Also he's dead so if you watch the movie you won't be financially contributing to him in any way.

Dead Ringers by David Cronenberg (1988)
Some of you might only know Cronenberg through his more recent less Canadian work but he's been making weird movies since the 70s. While his early films featured stuff like a woman with a penis like stinger coming out of her armpit or a guy developing a vagina-like wound (no I am not making that stuff up), Dead Ringers hit the sweet spot of being commercial but also weird as fuck. It stars Jeremy Irons as a pair of gynecologist twins who are split aprt when one of them finds love with a woman. Aside from Irons it also stars a lot of well-known Canadians like Geneviève Bujold as the woman who upsets the twins' lives and Jacqueline Hennessy, along with her twin Jill, making her film debut as a hooker.

The Sweet Hereafter directed by Atom Egoyan (1997)
Based on Russell Banks novel of the same name, The Sweet Hereafter is a depressing Canadian tale about how a town gathers together for a class action after a bus full of children crashes leaving only one survivor. It also features one of the most Canadian-y casts ever including teenage Sarah Polley, Bruce Greenwood, Tom McCamus (AKA the guy from Room who played Joan Allen's boyfriend) and Alberta Watson. The film actually did really well internationally winning prizes at Cannes and getting nominated for Academy Awards. It was also sadly the last good film Egoyan made though that hasn't stopped Telefilm from continuing to fund his increasingly abysmal movies.

C.R.A.Z.Y. directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (2005)
C.R.A.Z.Y. was a huge phenomenon the year it came out. It was so good that Canadians actually saw it! The film follows Zachary, a young gay man growing up in the 60s and 70s his relationship with his father who is reluctant to accept him. It's actually quite touching and sweet although most people only saw it because even though it was a low budget movie it had a pretty great soundtrack that included Bowie, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones. Martin Scorsese even planned to remake it at one point resetting it in an ultra-Catholic family in Boston. The film stars Michel Côté as the disapproving father, a man otherwise best known for his play Broue, about a bunch of dudes in a bar getting drunk that is so successful it has been playing since 1979 (yes, I have actually seen it, no, it is not that great).

Water directed by Deepa Mehta (2005)
Water is a film about a child bride in India whose much older husband kicks the bucket condemning her to the miserable secluded life of a widow for the rest of her life. There's also a subplot about Indians striving for independence under British colonial rule. It also co-stars Canadian Lisa Ray as one of the widows. True story: I saw her in Paris once and she is even more beautiful irl than she is in pictures or film.
I know what you Americans are thinking: what's so Canadian about a movie set entirely in India? EVERYTHING. If you're a Canadian you know that nothing is as Canadian as our arts industry which is made up of super talented immigrants. And do you think any self-respecting Canadian would actually watch a Canadian movie unless they were tricked into it? The fact that it's entirely set in India is only a plus!
Deepa Mehta has made a ton of movies, some of which are set in Canada, but Water is probably her best known film which was also nominated for Best Foreign Language film at the Oscars representing Canada. Not bad, eh?

Passchendaele directed by Paul Gross (2008)
Canadian actor Paul Gross announced in the early 2000s he was going to make Canada's most expensive movie ever, a WWI epic about the battle of Passchendaele. The movie was budgeted at 20 mil, something Hollywood execs would probably sneeze at but a ridiculous sum for a country with only 30 million inhabitants most of whom are completely indifferent to our home grown film industry (except Quebecers who have their own thing going on). Canadians treated this like the Hollywood knockoff vanity project it was and pretty much avoided it in theatres. Unfortunately for us even the fact that it was an epic flop has not stopped Gross's terrible directing career.

Pontypool directed by Bruce MacDonald (2008)
Bruce MacDonald is one of the most notorious Canadian filmmakers out there. He currently has 72 directing credits on imdb. When he won a $25, 000 award for one of his films he promised to spend it on buying a huge chunk of hash. He once exchanged a pair of cowboy boots for the rights to a novel he wanted to film. And he's actually a really good filmmaker. Pontypool is the type of movie Canadians do best: lowbudget genuinely creepy horror. Set in one location it's a zombie thriller about a world where people slowly start losing their language.

Stories We Tell directed by Sarah Polley (2012)
If you grew up in the 80s/90s Sarah Polley was a huge cultural figure. At the tender age of 11 she became Canada's sweetheart when her mom died the same year she landed a starring role in Road to Avonlea, a TV series set in P.E.I. based on one of Anne of Green Gables author L.M. Montgomery's short stories. Her father Michael Polley was a lesser known jobbing actor of English origin who you'd probably recognize if you've ever watched anything Canadian. As young Sarah grew up she famously turned down Hollywood opportunities to slog away in the Canadian film industry then turned her focus on directing and disappeared for a bit. Then out of nowhere she popped up with Stories We Tell, a documentary about how her father Michael Polley wasn't even her biological father. The movie is a sad and sweet look at how she and her family coped with the news but is also interesting for this tiny tidbit: when Canadian gossip journalists found out about the scandal Polley just called them up and asked them nicely not to publish it. They actually complied.

Rhymes For Young Ghouls directed by Jeff Barnaby (2013)
Okay this one isn't a classic yet, but I really want it to be. A stylish heist thriller it's set in a small Mi'kmaq community on a reservation where a young girl turns to a life of crime as a drug dealer to avoid residential school. For everyone who thinks Canadians are so nice it's a reminder of our ugly not-so-distant colonial past that isn't sentimental or soul-crushing.

Banjo Loser Scott Avett Refuses to Make Statement on NC's Discriminatory "Bathroom" Bill

$
0
0

The Avett Brothers are the biggest band in North Carolina, and North Carolina is under scrutiny for, among other bad ideas, HB 2. What do you hear about us on the road?

On the bus, we talk about it. There's always current events going on, and especially when it's close to home, it hits harder. I'm always trying to put myself in check and step back and say, "What really is my business? What am I qualified to speak on?" Some of the guys in the group have read HB 2 fully. But I don't have enough information to trust the birth of these things that are written into the bill. Where do they come from? Why? I don't know. There are a lot of elements to this, and when it comes to the political part of it, I don't feel qualified to speak in detail.

Will the band take a public stand, especially when you play the state?

We have made conscious decisions about not making a statement, but we do think that what we do—and we see it work—is an inclusive scene. We think our presence is needed more than ever because what we do is all-inclusive. Every night when we play, someone is seeing us for the first time. And sometimes, they're coming for reasons that are very sad, like deaths or illnesses, or very inspiring. If we took that away, it would hurt. We'd be taking away something that, unlike politics, is all-inclusive. When you buy a ticket, you don't have to say who you're voting for. For people on the ground, real people, we need to be present and all-inclusive. That, to me, is very important. If I made statements politically, I'd be toying around with becoming a politician. I don't have what that takes.

ONTD Original: Hottest 15 Male Power Rangers.

$
0
0

All the actors that ever played a Ranger have a few things in common: Pretty faces, nice bodies, questionable acting skills and DOA careers. Here's the Top 15 imho.

15. Carter (Sean CwJohnson)
Red Ranger, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue

Probaby one of the most vanilla rangers, but also a cute one. He was the typical good guy who happened to be a republican, lived in the suburbs, admired Paul Ryan, only made love to his wife in missionary but also liked to be dominated by a man whore. He was one of the few rangers that came back for the 20th anniversary episode and he was looking OK.

14. Troy (Andrew M. Gray)
Red Ranger, Power Rangers Megaforce

One of the most recent Rangers. His acting makes Rihanna feel like an Oscar winner and his whining about his dad was a turn-off, but he kept me hooked when he took his shirt off and morphed into past rangers.

13. Chase (James Davies)

Black Ranger, Power Rangers Dino Charge

The character is supposed to be some aussie class clown, but he's just pretty enough to look at. His instagram is filled with enough selfies to give Kim K. a run for her money. Probably BJ'd his way to the role.

12. Adam (Johnny Yong Bosch)
Green Ranger, Power Rangers Zeo

Adam was one of the few rangers that went through many generations, but he looked his bet at the beginning of Zeo. Everything went to hell when he let his hair grew. He came back for the 15th anniversary special and is aging like fine wine.

11. Flynn (Ari Boyland)
Blue Ranger, Power Rangers RPM

I haven't seen RPM, but saw a vid of him in a convention and looks nice. He's probably the first gay ranger, and he has a severe case of pretty gay face. I'd gladly bang.

10. Wes/Alex (Jason Faunt)
Red Ranger, Power Rangers Time Force

During Time Force he played two roles: Wes the immature ranger and Alex, Jen's dead husband, and i just wanted to be in the middle of that Jason Faunt sandwich. He came back during Super Megaforce's final battle and is still looking mighty fine.

9. Cole (Ricardo Medina Jr.)
Red Ranger, Power Rangers Wild Force

Cole loved to be shirtless and was kinda dumb, basically Channing Tatum's ranger. His latest credits include the 11 o'clock news where he appeared after being charged for killing a man. Don't worry, he won't go to jail. You can enjoy his talent in RandyBlue.com in a couple months probably...

8. Jack (Brandon Jay McLaren)
Red Ranger, Power Rangers SPD

Out of all the Power Rangers, he's probably one of the few who managed to get a decent career after being a Ranger with big roles in Falling Skyes, The Killing and Graceland. He's still packing a greaaaaaaaat bod that will make you call SPD EMERGENCYYYY!!!

7. Koda (Yoshua Sudarzo)
Blue Ranger, Power Rangers Dino Charge

Another of the newest Saban/Nick rangers. irl the actor is a cosplayer and quite into sci-fi/fantasy. I think he would've been a damn great Magnus Bane for Shadowhunters, but still, that role of 'zombie #15' in the Walking Dead won't play itself.

6. Tommy (Jason David Frank)
Black Ranger, Power Rangers Dino Thunder

Tommy was always loved by everyone, kids adored him, moms wanna have him, girls wanna have him, guys wanna be him and gays wanna be in him. He was just loved by everyone but he looked his best when he came back many seasons later for Power Rangers Dino Thunder. He's been known for whoring around and will probably beg for a cameo in the new PR movie. Oh and he's an MAA fighter now so he's got a very nice bod.

5. Mike (Hector David Jr.)
Green Ranger, Power Rangers Samurai

Probably one of the rangers with the prettiest eyes. He was one of the few reasons that kept me hooked when the show came back in Nick.

4. Jason (Austin St. John)
Red Ranger, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Ahhhh. one of my first crushes.... Jason. Right before Tommy came he was the reason i wanted to be Kimberly. you just know they were fucking in the Angel Grove Youth Center's basement while Ernie was watching. i just wanted him to bow so i could have a bite of that magnificent ass.

And no, he's not Brock from Seancody and is not doing gay porn yet.

3. Nick (Firass Dirani)
Red Ranger, Power Rangers Mystic Force

Scratch what i said. This guy has the pretties eyes any Ranger ever had. And he's had a decent career in some Aussie dramas right after PR. Also, probably the one who bottom'd his way to the role.

2. TJ (Selwyn Ward)
Blue Ranger, Power Rangers in Space

Often overlooked, TJ was one of the hottest rangers, and probably a better leader than Jason, Tommy and Rocky. With a goddamn smile that made me swoon. I just wanted him to play with my ass like this:

1. Leo (Danny Slavin)
Red Ranger, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

Yes. He was charming, he had a great body, and was a different kind of leader than previous ones (way better than flop Andros anyway). Also, i fapped til i dislocated my hand to this iconic scene where he was taken hostage and bound, and ended up getting shirtless:

YASSSS PAPI!!! The show was aware of his appeal so unlike previous seasons, they had him on a tight top during the credits:

He'll always be remembed as the sexiest ranger... although funny enough, he just did Power Rangers to pay for his education. Now he's an associate in a law firm.

Jan Versteegh and Tim Hofman, two TV presenters in the Netherlands, posed for the magazine L’Homo because they wanted to fight homophobia by challenging how society views masculinity.

The duo said they did this sexy photoshoot to start a conversation about homosexuality, instead of just posing naked in a bed sheet to get attention.

This photoshoot has caused a backlash on social media, with many people wondering why the magazine chose to feature two straight men kissing instead of two gay men kissing.

ONTD Original: The racist past (and present) of popular Youtuber, Brandon Rogers

$
0
0
Before you start reading, it should be said that this post contains trigerring material (i.e. racism, blackface, jokes about child sex abuse and rape, etc.) and that you should avoid this post if you are sensitive to such topics.

Since Youtube was founded in 2005, the website has flourished and become of the biggest sites on the Internet. Many Youtubers, from Leslie Hall to Tay Zonday, have faded in and out of popularity in the blink of an eye. But many, as you will see with Brandon Rogers, have become popular after years and years of not succeeding. While no doubt many people have worked hard and rightfully earned their place in Youtube's limelight, some are undeserving of the attention they've been getting and Brandon Rogers is one of them.

For those of you who don't know who Brandon Rogers is... he's a Youtuber who over the past year has racked up millions of views on his self-titled "[OFFENSIVE]" comedy sketch videos. He received attention after many Vine stars started making 'Try me, bitch' parodies, which was taken from one of his Grandpa Hates videos. Since then, he has risen in popularity. He's been featured on The Fine Bros. 'Youtubers React' series and even had a fan meeting at VidCon recently.

His videos are, cut and dry, a direct ripoff of Sacha Baron Cohen. Many of his characters (Japanese Girlfriend, Deeno the Filipino, The CEO) are eerily similar to Cohen's characters, being that they rely mostly on harmful stereotypes and the "offensive" shock value brand of humor. He even lists his videos with "[OFFENSIVE]" in an attempt to cut himself off from accountability. But with this post, I hope I can shed some light on some of the things he's done and is still doing. And to my knowledge, he has never apologized for anything he's done in this post and he's somehow managed to sweep it under the rug.

To start us off, let's go back to Brandon's early beginnings on the Internet when he used to work with a young gay Latinx drag queen named Billy Myers, most notably known by his character named Sharolaid. For those of you who don't know Sharolaid, you can read about Billy's character here. (Note: NSFW)

While working with Billy, Brandon donned the persona of a "sassy black woman" named Barbeesha. He would paint on blackface, sport a "ghetto blackcent", and go on Stickam and/or in public and shoot videos for Youtube. Below you can see a clip of Brandon as "Barbeesha" where he's in black face and speaks with a blackcent while joking about performing anilingus on a baby doll. Note: Brandon is not black. I'm unaware of his ethnicity, but he most definitely isn't black.

And in another video on one of his older Youtube accounts, PrankyBoy, Brandon dons blackface and portrays Barbeesha and her "family".

In this "Barbeesha's BEST OF", you see a clip of him using the n word while being non-black while also doing blackcent throughout the other clips. Note: Read further on before saying he could have changed. He still uses the n word when he's a non-black person. See Auntie Fee parody video below.

And here you can watch Brandon and Sharolaid together.

Below you can watch a video on another of Brandon's older youtubes where he dons his blackcent and reenacts anilingus on another baby doll while posing it as a joke about Ronald McDonald.

There are numerous other examples out there, I'm sure. Some videos of him have been deleted or privated so I couldn't provide them in this post. For now, we'll move on to his current videos.

As you saw above, he used a blackcent fairly regularly in the late 2000s and if you compare his Barbeesha character to his Grandpa character, you'll find that he uses a watered down version of his blackcent for the Grandpa character. The 'I need a pharmacist' joke was even used regularly for his prank calls with Billy. Below you can hear it in one of his videos:

And at 0:55 in his Auntie Fee parody, you can hear him use the n word. And this is still fairly recent.

Since then, he's moved onto other racist tropes by playing a stereotype of an Asian woman in his 'Japanese Girlfriend' video and also a racist stereotype of a Filipino man in 'Deeno the Filipino'. He also jokes regularly about rape in his videos and is rather unapologetic about it.

All in all, some people would say Brandon is talented and lucky to have finally hit the big time on Youtube, but it can also be said that he's a hack who copied and pasted Sacha Baron Cohen's career and applied it to himself. He has used antiblack stereotypes in the past, revisited them in his Auntie Fee parodies, and then moved on to other racial stereotypes relatively untarnished. But when you cater to white people, bigots, and "anti-Social Justice Warrior" people, I suppose success is to be accepted when you use harmful tropes that cater to that group.

G-Eazy visited LA's 102.7 KIIS FM to reveal some details about his new collab with Britney Spears.

In the video, much like how Britney Spears previously reached out to Iggy Azalea, G-Eazy reveals that Britney's people reached out to him because she was a fan of his work.

Just like Iggy Azalea said that their collab was "undeniably great," G-Eazy said that his collab with Britney Spears is "big" and "huge" and that it'll "go off in the clubs" and "sound good on the radio."

G-Eazy went on, describing how today's music climate allowed him to create a hip-hop song with Britney: "I just think the walls of genre have been broken down and everything's kind of a melting pot of a lot of different influences. I guess it leans hip-hop."
