Ruby Franke, the mom behind the family YouTube channel Eightpassengers, has been arrested in Utah on two counts of aggravated child abuse. Franke is a Christian family influencer who frequently posts videos of her six children. She had apparently filmed a YouTube video just the day before her arrest.
The police arrested Franke after one of her children climbed out of a window in their house and sought help from a neighbor, who noticed that the child had duct tape on their wrists and ankles. The child was treated at a hospital for severe wounds and malnourishment. A second malnourished child was found in the Franke home.
Franke's husband Kevin was not charged, but her business partner, Jodi, has also been arrested on aggravated child abuse charges. They have been criticized for their harsh punishments, including forcing their teenage son to sleep on the floor for months.
Shari, one of the Franke daughters, posted an Instagram story of the police placing her mother into custody and added the caption, "Finally." Also, Ruby Franke's sister Ellie Mecham posted this statement to Instagram, which seems to confirm that things have been rocky for the Franke children.
