In December, John Calado and Jonathan Chiaramonte got engaged at the New York pop-up. The proposal picture got posted by PopTV and then started showing up everywhere. The couple said that they were both huge fans of the show and that they were inspired by David and Patrick's proposal. When interviewed, Jonathan, a teacher said, "We knew we saw our love in their love." Jonathan, who restores and sells furniture said, "I felt that the Schitt's Creek pop-up was the perfect spot to express my commitment. We bonded over the true meaning of the show like thousands of others have. This was by far the most special night of our lives."
Then a former student came forward to say that it was all fake.
Taylor Newsom, a former student of Jonathan Chiaramonte's, said that not only are Jonathan and John not engaged but that this is not the first time Jonathan has pulled a stunt to get attention.
This was my high school drama teacher... few notes:

1. Not engaged. Lied to get into the pop up.
2. Blocked me when I confronted him with this information
3. Not his first time pulling a publicity stunt to get his 15 mins of fame. (Posed a fake dance off to be on Ellen) https://t.co/4u5p4asATP
Taylor said that his former teacher also staged this fake dance off video so that he could get on the Ellen Show:
And it worked because he got invited to appear on the Ellen Show:
I did some old school ONTD investigation to see if I could find any more info about both of them that would confirm their relationship one way or another.
John is actually a model based out of Miami.

And he was an ANTM wannabe!
He does have three IG stories from two years ago about a chair, a table, and a birdcage that he repainted/refinished so I guess that part of what they told the interviewers was true.
Both John's instagram account and Jonathan's instagram account have no pictures of them together until AFTER the alleged proposal occurred.
John posted one in early January of them together at Rockefeller Center and Jonathan posted one of them just before Christmas. The only other post of them together is a few pictures of them at the Schitt's Creek pop up, but strangely (and by strangely, I mean suspiciously), neither of them posted the proposal picture. It seems like if you got engaged, you would post about it but neither of them have mentioned anything about the proposal which seems suspect.

Mods, deleted the poll - hopefully that gets rid of the error message!
ONTD, have you ever faked a birthday/engagement/marriage/injury to get attention or free stuff? Did you get caught?
